A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Gilgit-Baltistan, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
The quake hit Diamar Ghazur, Skardu and adjoining areas. The earthquake triggered panic among the people who came out of their houses and started prayers. No loss of life was reported.
The local authorities put rescuers on high alert. According to sources, no damage has been reported. However, land landslides at various places disrupted communication links.
A 4.5 magnitude quake hit Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) a couple of days ago and according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicentre of the quake was along the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border with a depth of 102 kilometres. Authorities are actively monitoring the situation ensuring a swift and coordinated response to any untoward incident.
