In a major development, the district administration of Islamabad has decided to issue arms licences to all mosques and Imambargahs that are operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to details, these licenses will not be issued in the name of any person or Ulema; instead, they will be issued in the name of a masjid committee.
All the relevant mosques and imambargahs will submit their application through their committees.
The police will visit the premises after scrutiny of the application. The police will also determine the requirement for weapons.
The local police will also decide the licenses issued to mosques and imambargahs.
