Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal was sworn in as the new Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir at a ceremony held on Friday.
The oath was administered by Raja Saeed Akram Khan, Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The ceremony was attended by Member Election Commission Syed Nazir-ul-Hassan Gilani, Inspector General of Police Captain (retd) Liaquat Ali, as well as a large number of government secretaries, members of the district judiciary and lawyers.
Officials said the appointment marks a new phase for the electoral body in Azad Kashmir as it prepares for upcoming responsibilities.
