The Awami National Party (ANP) President and Senator Aimal Wali Khan has termed 'Tirah', the most serious issue facing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, questioning the motives behind the proposed displacement and demanding a clear and transparent state policy on terrorism.
Addressing a ceremony at Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar, Aimal Wali Khan said that any future displacement would inevitably allow militants to escape alongside civilians.
“Do terrorists have it written on their foreheads that they are terrorists?” he asked, expressing concerns that the real objectives behind displacement might be something else.
He stressed that there must be zero tolerance for terrorism, adding that Pakistan must be shaped into a state where every injustice is answered through the rule of law, not through force or ambiguity.
The ANP chief also warned against what he described as “mental terrorism” embedded across different schools of thought.
“Those who have destroyed this nation must be held accountable and punished,” he said.
Calling for clarity, Aimal Wali Khan demanded a defined policy identifying who the terrorists actually are.
“Are these militants the so-called Fitna-e-Khawarij, or are they being treated as our well-wishers?” he questioned, criticizing the lack of a consistent national narrative.
Commenting on political developments, he said that another objective of the so-called hybrid regime had been achieved in reference to Mahmood Khan, adding that it was an unfortunate reality that the Leader of the Opposition was now focused on securing the release of prisoner number “804.”
He also took a swipe at political inconsistency, saying, “Achakzai Sahib sometimes chants Maulana Zindabad and at other times Nawaz Sharif Zindabad.”
On regional relations, Senator Aimal Wali Khan advocated reopening trade routes with Afghanistan, stating that economic engagement could help stabilize the region and benefit the people on both sides of the border.
