A policeman was arrested and dismissed from service with immediate effect for taking a bribe in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to details, the policeman who was identified as Abdul Rehman was performing his duties at the Ravi Road Police Station.
A spokesman of the Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) Operations said that the policeman took a bribe from a citizen at the Ring Road area of Lahore.
Deputy Inspector-General Operations Faisal Kamran took notice of the incident and directed relevant officials to arrest and dismiss the cop immediately.
The DIG Operations said that the wrongdoing of one officer brings disrepute to the entire police force.
DIG Faisal Kamran was directed to adopt zero tolerance policy against corruption and using authority behind means.
He urged the citizens to contact with the police in case of any complaint. DIG Faisal Kamran said that there is no place for corrupt elements in the police force.
