The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast rain and snowfall in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from January 21 to 24, warning that a strong westerly weather system will affect the region during this period.
According to the PDMA, the expected rainfall could lead to a rise in water levels in the Kabul River and its associated rivers, increasing the risk of flash floods in several districts. The authority has issued flash flood warnings to all concerned district administrations, particularly in Swat, Chitral, Dir, Buner, and Shangla.
The PDMA has directed local administrations to remain vigilant, especially in low-lying and sensitive areas, and to take all necessary preventive measures. Emergency services, including Rescue 1122 and Civil Defense, have been instructed to stay on high alert to respond promptly to any emergency situation.
Residents living along the banks of the Kabul River have been advised to remain cautious and take precautionary measures. The PDMA has also directed district administrations to ensure timely evacuation of vulnerable populations in case of any emergency.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with local administrations and follow safety advisories to minimize potential risks during the expected spell of adverse weather.
