US President Donald Trump has shared a private message from French President Emmanuel Macron on social media, claiming that Macron will not remain in office for long, 24NewsHD TV on Tuesday.
The revelation comes amid growing tensions between the US and Europe over American attempts to assert control over Greenland.
According to international news agencies, Trump’s actions have sparked unease across Europe and caused volatility in financial markets.
Macron has reportedly taken a firm stance compared to other European leaders, urging the European Union to activate its strongest trade measures against the US in response to the Greenland issue.
Tensions escalated further after Macron expressed hesitation about joining Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace”, citing concerns over the United Nations’ potential role.
When asked about Macron’s position, Trump responded, “Did he really say that? Anyway, no one wants him because he will be out of power very soon.”
He also added, “I’ll impose a 200 percent tariff on French wine and champagne; then he will join [the board], though his participation isn’t necessary.”
Shortly after these remarks, Trump shared a screenshot of his private conversation with Macron.
In the message, Macron wrote that he was uncertain about Trump’s plans for Greenland and noted Trump’s invitation to other countries, including Russia, to attend a G7 summit.
Despite the disagreement, Macron described Trump as his “friend” in the message and affirmed full alignment with him on Syria, while also noting that there is “much that can be done together” regarding Iran.
