In India, the city of Ajmer in Rajasthan state witnessed chaos as monsoon rains intensified, creating dangerous flood conditions.
A particularly alarming incident occurred near the revered Ajmer Sharif Dargah of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, where a floodwater surge swept away a visiting pilgrim.
The viral video of the incident shows panicked bystanders, including local shopkeepers, making desperate efforts to rescue the pilgrim.
The raging floodwaters around the dargah engulfed streets and nearby shops, highlighting the unpreparedness of city infrastructure against such natural calamities.
According to foreign media outlets, many Indian states are experiencing severe monsoon rainfall, resulting in widespread destruction. Reports of lightning strikes, urban flooding, and casualties are emerging from multiple regions.
Meanwhile, in South Korea, at least 14 people were killed and 12 were reported missing as heavy downpours battered various regions, causing severe flooding and landslides.
According to government officials, the worst-hit area was the southern county of Sancheong, where more than 800 millimetres of rain were recorded.
Emergency responders have been working around the clock to search for missing persons and provide relief in affected regions. Authorities fear the death toll could rise as many areas remain inaccessible due to ongoing landslides and floodwaters.
