The day commemorates the founding of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), which was established on July 20, 1924, in France.
Since then, July 20th has been recognised annually as a tribute to the global influence of chess.
In Pakistan, the game of chess enjoys widespread popularity. Educational institutions and chess clubs across the country host various events and activities to mark the occasion.
Chess is considered a valuable tool in promoting culture, education, and peace. Its intricate strategies and intellectual demands make it more than just a game—it mirrors real-life challenges where every move must be carefully calculated.

Historically, chess has captivated the interest of kings, emperors, nobles, and the elite. It is a renowned mental sport played between two opponents, each equipped with 16 pieces, including a king, queen, rooks, bishops, knights, and pawns.
