Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the revival of nuclear talks with the United States hinges on Washington’s sincere intentions.
He made these remarks during an interview at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
Araghchi emphasised that Iran’s nuclear program is entirely peaceful and that a lasting solution to the nuclear dispute must be mutually beneficial for both sides. He urged for a diplomatic path forward and stressed the importance of balanced, serious negotiations.
Referring to the 2015 nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Araghchi hailed it as a major diplomatic achievement, which proved that dialogue and diplomacy could deliver tangible results.
He reiterated that Iran does not seek war but warned that if any aggression is repeated, Tehran would respond strongly and decisively.
In closing, the Iranian official reaffirmed that only through genuine and committed dialogue could both parties arrive at a fair and durable solution to the long-standing nuclear issue.
