The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a monsoon weather alert for Balochistan, warning of widespread rainfall and the risk of flash floods in several districts until July 24.
According to the PDMA, rain is expected in Zhob, Sherani, Loralai, Duki, Harnai, Sibi, Barkhan, Musakhel, Khuzdar, Naseerabad, Jafarabad and Jhal Magsi during the forecast period.
The authority warned that the expected downpours could trigger flooding in seasonal rivers, flash floods in mountainous areas and urban flooding in low-lying localities. It also cautioned that water levels in the Bolan and Lahri rivers are likely to rise significantly.
The PDMA has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and refrain from crossing flooded roads, rain-fed streams and weak bridges to minimise the risk of accidents.
Meanwhile, district administrations, rescue agencies and all relevant departments have been directed to remain on high alert and ensure preparedness for any emergency situation arising from the monsoon rains.
The PDMA urged citizens to immediately report emergencies through its Helpline 1129 or the authority's Control Room for timely assistance.
