The bank deposits in the country have risen to a record high after decline in interest rates, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to the latest data, total banking deposits reached Rs11.6% in May 2025 and a Rs 11.6% increase compared to Rs 29,349 billion in May 2024.
On a monthly basis, deposits rose by Rs 441 billion in May compared to April 2025. The year-on-year increase stood at a notable Rs 3,408 billion. Experts attribute this substantial growth to higher interest rates, which have led to better returns for depositors.
