Law enforcement departments have completed the purchase of high-end armoured vehicles to bolster the security of the Very Very Important Person (VVIPs) and foreign dignitaries, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Friday.
According to police officials, two bulletproof BMWs have been imported from Germany, at a cost of €500,000, which equals approximately Rs163,019,750.
These BMW 7 Series vehicles will be deployed under the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and are designated for foreign VIPs and diplomats.
In addition to the BMWs, the government has also procured five bulletproof Toyota Land Cruisers for VVIP escort and jammer support operations.
According to police officials, these vehicles are estimated to cost over Rs200 million collectively and will be operated by the Special Branch.
All newly acquired vehicles have been handed over to their respective units and are now ready for operational deployment.
The BMW 7 Series (2025) retails between Rs Rs71.6 million to 80.8 million in Pakistan. Bulletproof Toyota Land Cruisers, depending on armour level and customisation, range between PKR 115 million and 740 million, with used models costing from PKR 55 million upward.
