CM Maryam orders completion of sewerage, drainage projects by June 30

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed to complete all the sewerage and drainage projects till June 30, 2026, at any cost, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Presiding over a special meeting in Lahore on Saturday, the Punjab Chief Minister said that Rs80 billion were saved through e-tendering in the Punjab Development Programme.

She said that security and the saving of people’s funds are our topmost priority. The CM directed the imposition of a complete ban on digging and leaving open pits in all cities including Lahore.

CM Maryam said that people faced many difficulties due to the digging of pits in mohallahs and streets, and geo-tagging of 838,555 manholes was completed.

De-silting of drains and sewer lines for the first time in 41 cities of Punjab. 550 tons of silt/slurry were removed from sewer lines and drains.

It was told during the meeting that 110 underground sewerage tanks with a capacity to store 24.5 million gallons have been completed. Covers were placed on 2,00,000 manholes in the city. 

Supply of 91 jetting and suction machines, 77 de-slitting machines, and 100 D watering sets is being supplied to various cities of Punjab.

During the briefing, it was said that the drain system covering 198 kilometers was completed. Cleaning of 3497 kilometers of sewer lines was also completed.

Work on Phase I and Phase II, with an amount of Rs204 billion, is being continued with full swing.

PDP Phase -I is 57 percent completed, which includes Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujrat, Okara, Jhang, Multan, and Sialkot.

Work on Phase-2 of PDP is completed, which includes Jhelum, Hafizabad, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Rawalpindi.
