In a major boost for digital content creators in Pakistan, Facebook has introduced significant changes to its monetization policy, making it easier for users with smaller audiences to start earning from their content.

Under the latest update, Facebook has reportedly relaxed the eligibility criteria for monetization on selected pages and profiles. The move is expected to create new earning opportunities for emerging creators who previously struggled to meet the platform's strict requirements.

According to the new system, users whose Facebook pages generate 300,000 views within a 28-day period may become eligible for Facebook's Content Monetization Tool. Once approved, creators can earn revenue in US dollars from videos, Reels, and other eligible content published on the platform.

Previously, Facebook required creators to have at least 10,000 followers, 600,000 minutes of watch time, and a specified number of uploaded videos before they could qualify for monetization. These conditions made it difficult for many new creators to access the platform's earning features, often discouraging them from continuing their content creation journey.

Digital media experts believe the updated policy could significantly expand income opportunities for aspiring creators by lowering the barriers to monetization. However, they caution that creators must still comply with Facebook's community standards, monetization policies, and other eligibility requirements to maintain access to the program.

According to the company, the revised monetization feature has not yet been rolled out to all users. At present, only selected accounts and pages are able to access the new Content Monetization Tool, with a broader rollout expected in phases.

The update is being welcomed by Pakistan's growing community of digital creators, many of whom see it as an opportunity to transform their online content into a sustainable source of income.
