The first session of the newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly is expected to be held on June 21, with preparations underway for the swearing-in of newly elected members and the election of key parliamentary office-bearers, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to official sources, the Secretary of the Gilgit- Baltistan Assembly has written to the Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan, recommending that the inaugural session be convened on Sunday, June 21, at 4:00 pm.
The session will take place in the Assembly Hall in Jutial, Gilgit, where newly elected members will take the oath of office.
The assembly is also expected to elect its Speaker and Deputy Speaker during the first sitting.
The development came after the Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan issued the official notification of successful candidates following the recently held general elections.
Sources said approval has been sought from the Governor under the provisions of the Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018 to formally summon the assembly session.
