A woman allegedly lost an eye after being subjected to severe torture by her husband in Lahore's Nawankot area, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
The incident prompted police to register an attempted murder case and launch a search for the suspect immediately.
The incident reportedly took place on Friday night in the Aftab Park Dhoolanwal locality, where Safdar Butt allegedly assaulted his wife, Nadia Safdar, with an iron rod, causing serious injuries.
According to the FIR, the case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Shafiq Butt, who stated that the suspect repeatedly struck his sister in the face during the attack.
As a result of the alleged assault, Nadia suffered severe injuries and lost one of her eyes.
The complainant further alleged that the suspect is addicted to drugs and has a history of subjecting his wife to violence.
The FIR stated that similar incidents of abuse had occurred in the past.
The injured woman was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while police registered a case under attempted murder charges and began efforts to arrest the accused.
