Prominent Pakistani producer, director and media executive Dr Umair Haroon has officially joined the jury panel for the prestigious 2026 International Emmy Awards competition, earning a significant international milestone for Pakistan’s media industry.
Dr Haroon told the media his appointment as a juror follows his election to the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS), adding that he is currently the only Pakistani representative serving on the Academy.
The International Emmy jury is a highly selective panel comprising experienced television professionals from more than 60 countries. It is responsible for evaluating entries and performances submitted to the global competition.
Dr Haroon will serve alongside some of the most influential figures in the global entertainment industry, including CEOs of major distribution companies, presidents of leading networks such as Warner Bros, Gaumont and Showtime, as well as top showrunners and Oscar-winning producers.
Expressing gratitude over the recognition, Dr Haroon said he is committed to using this international platform to highlight the intellectual and cultural richness of Pakistani storytelling.
He noted that Pakistani television has a strong legacy of powerful narratives, ranging from classic dramas that defined generations to modern productions addressing contemporary social issues, adding that he is proud to represent a creative community that brings authenticity and depth to global screens.
