The Punjab government has ordered a comprehensive crackdown against individuals possessing or selling illegal weapons across the province, terming the proliferation of arms a serious threat to peace and internal security.
According to Counter Crime Department (CCD) officials, a detailed district-level action plan has been prepared to curb the growing presence of illegal arms.
The CCD has been entrusted with the key responsibility of leading the operation.
Officials said that the compilation of lists of individuals and groups involved in the illegal weapons trade will begin immediately. “Those hostile to peace and involved in the arms black market will be dealt with strictly,” CCD officials added.
They further warned that the spread of illegal weapons is contributing to the deterioration of internal security, emphasizing that the latest crackdown is aimed at restoring law and order throughout Punjab.
