A petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to declare illegal the “anarchic posts” on the X account of the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.
Citizen Ghulam Murtaza Khan filed a petition through Barrister Zafarullah Advocate. He pleaded that “anarchic posts” from the official account of a convicted prisoner during his imprisonment are illegal.
He said the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) should be directed to investigate and identify the person running Imran Khan’s X account. He said that orders should be given to block and remove the “malicious, illegal and disruptive criminal tweets” from social media.
He said that instructions should be given to the jail superintendent that the convicted prisoner should not be allowed to run social media according to the jail rules. He said that orders should be given to the jail superintendent to immediately stop illegal and unconstitutional activities. He said that PTI should be directed not to retweet Imran Khan’s tweets.
