The spread of dengue fever continues in Lahore, with nine new patients reported across the city in the latest update, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.
According to health authorities, two new cases each emerged from Allama Iqbal Town, Shalamar Town, and Cantonment Zone, while Aziz Bhatti and Gulberg-Nishtar Towns reported one case each.
Officials have expressed concern over the increasing pace of mosquito breeding in various parts of the city, warning that the risk of further outbreaks remains high.
However, interestingly, the Data Ganj Bakhsh Town—home to the highest number of public and private hospitals in Lahore—has not reported any new dengue cases in recent days.
Official figures show that only five patients have been confirmed from this zone so far this year.
Health experts cautioned that the low number of reported cases from the Data Ganj Bakhsh Town does not necessarily reflect a lower risk of transmission.
They stressed that underreporting or delays in case confirmation from hospitals may be a contributing factor.
Authorities have reiterated that citizens must adopt preventive measures, including using mosquito repellents, covering water storage containers, and ensuring cleanliness in and around their homes, to curb the growing threat of dengue fever in the city.
