A DSP of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) was injured when suspected drug smugglers opened fire on an ANF squad near the Military Car Centre on Peshawar’s Ring Road, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the details, the ANF squad was chasing a suspicious vehicle travelling from Bara when the suspects entered a workshop.
As per the TV channel report, the accused reportedly escaped from the other side of the workshop after firing on the ANF squad.
The suspects opened fire during the incident, injuring DSP AD Waqar in the shoulder. He was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The suspects fled the scene, leaving their vehicle and the drugs behind. The ANF took the vehicle into custody.
Teams from Pushtakhara police and the ANF were present at the scene, while an investigation into the incident was launched.
