Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar departed for New York on Sunday to represent Pakistan at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he is set to participate in a series of high-level diplomatic engagements from September 21 to 25, reported 24NewsHD TV.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar will accompany PM Shehbaz Sharif during the high-level week and participate in a wide range of diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the UNGA session.
The deputy PM will attend a meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir, where he will reaffirm Pakistan’s support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
He will also participate in several OIC ministerial meetings, including the annual coordination meeting of OIC foreign ministers and other meetings of the OIC Contact Group.
Dar will attend multiple sessions on Palestine, including a meeting of the group of eight Arab and Islamic countries and a ministerial gathering of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
He will also address a UN Security Council briefing on artificial intelligence and attend a session on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
Ishaq Dar will chair the Council of Ministers meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
During his visit, the deputy PM will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from various countries and accompany PM Shehbaz Sharif in several bilateral meetings and other engagements.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar will highlight Pakistan’s efforts for regional and global peace and stability and discuss key regional and international challenges during his diplomatic engagements in New York.
