A man has died after allegedly being subjected to a brutal assault in the Wanjiki Tarar area of Hafizabad district in Punjab, where gas was reportedly forced into his body using a pipe, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the TV channel report, the victim, identified as Ali Hassan, was allegedly assaulted by the owner of a gas-refilling shop and an accomplice.
The suspects inserted a pipe into a sensitive part of Ali Hassan’s body and forced gas into it. As a result, his abdomen became severely swollen and his intestines were ruptured.
Ali Hassan was initially taken to the Trauma Centre in Hafizabad for treatment. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later referred to a hospital in Lahore.
He remained in hospital for five days after being admitted but subsequently died from his injuries.
Police registered a case at Wanjiki Tarar police station following the incident.
The victim’s family has demanded that the people allegedly involved in the incident be given appropriate punishment.
