Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has been arrested in Lahore, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the TV channel report, Aleema Khan had left her home to go to the gym when police arrested her in Lahore. No further details about the circumstances of her arrest were immediately provided in the report.
The arrest comes after Aleema Khan and her two sisters had previously faced restrictions while attempting to meet Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
Recent reporting said the three sisters were stopped at a checkpoint outside the jail on September 15, after which Aleema Khan staged a sit-in with a small number of PTI workers.
Earlier, Aleema Khan had announced a change in the party’s protest arrangements outside Adiala Jail after she and her sisters were denied a meeting with Imran Khan. She said that, in the future, only the three sisters would visit the jail, while party workers would not be called to gather there.
In July, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad declared Aleema Khan and her sister Uzma Khan proclaimed offenders in an October 4 protest case and issued perpetual arrest warrants for both of them, according to 24NewsHD.
