Adviser to the Prime Minister on political affairs Rana Sanaullah has said inflation is making life difficult for people, 24NewsHD TV reported.
Addressing party workers in Faisalabad on Sunday, he said inflation was being witnessed around the world, and fuel prices had also risen globally.
He linked the current pressure on prices to the US-Iran conflict and questioned why there were no similar long marches against inflation elsewhere in the world.
Rana Sanaullah said it was incorrect to suggest that the government alone was responsible for increases in petrol prices.
Pakistan’s petrol prices have recently been revised several times, with the latest reduction of Rs1.65 per litre taking effect on September 19 after a Rs6.88 increase earlier in the week.
The PM’s adviser also warned that some elements were looking for opportunities to create unrest, saying the government had tried to engage with them and those who did not understand would be dealt with.
He said the government understood the difficulties being faced by ordinary people and was working to reduce the impact of inflation.
