As many as five terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces at the National Highway in Kalat, while nine labourers were injured in an IED attack on a passenger bus in Kharan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the ISPR, in Kalat, security forces also rescued 23 people from the captivity of terrorists, designated as Fitna al-Hindustan, besides recovering six trucks, three buses, and two vehicles from their hideout.
A large number of weapons and explosive material was also recovered.
The terrorists had also set up a checkpoint at NA-25 that connects Karachi to Chaman.
They were involved in incidents of kidnappings for ransom, extortion and car snatching.
On the other hand, in Kharan, security forces shifted the injured passengers to a hospital.
After having suffered setbacks at the hands of security forces, terrorists, designated as Fitna al-Hindustan, have now resorted to attack ordinary citizens such as labourers which shows that they have lost their senses.
President and Prime Minister praise security forces
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have praised the security forces for carrying out a successful operation near Kalat.
The president commended the professional capabilities of the security forces and paid tribute to their efforts. He said the nation stood alongside the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the forces for their timely action during the operation. He said attempts involving kidnapping for ransom, extortion and vehicle snatching were foiled through prompt action.
The prime minister said decisive operations against terrorism would continue under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
He also said the government and security forces would work to eliminate terrorism that was being carried out with foreign support and assistance.
