West Indies Sunday won the three-match ODI series against Pakistan after beating the home side in the second match at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.

After winning the first match by a whopping 113 runs, the visitors maintained their top form and trounced the Green Shirts to win the series with one match still to play.

Despite a strong start to the chase, the visitors were in the driving seat but Pakistan’s late comeback dragged it to the last over where Fatima Sana almost won it for them but an edge on the last ball won it for the visiting team.

Skipper Hayley Matthews stepped up once again and scored 44 runs coming as an opener. She was crucial to West Indies’ strong start as despite losing her partner Rashada Williams, she continued to play with the same intent.

Following Hayley’s departure, Shemaine Campbelle took charge of the batting and scored 52 runs on 73 balls. However, she was not alone in leading West Indies to the victory as Stafanie Taylor top scored for the winning with 73 runs.

Down the order, Chinelle Henry contributed a valuable 23 runs on just 20 balls with the help of three boundaries.

For Pakistan, skipper Nida Dar took four wickets, while Umme Hani bagged two. Fatima and Sadia Iqbal picked one each.

Batting first, Pakistan did not get off to a great start as their opener, Muneeba Ali was bowled by Chinelle Henry in the second over after scoring just two runs.

However, after the initial scare, the home side bounced back with Sidra Ameen and Bismah Maroof combining for an 80-run partnership. The former was removed just after completing her half-century, losing her wicket to Afy Fletcher in the 21st over.

Bismah stayed at the crease but following Sidra’s departure, she couldn’t find a batting partner to build a long partnership with as Sadaf Shams, skipper Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana all walked back to the pavilion after failing to score considerable runs.

Pakistan got the much-needed support down the order with Najiha Alvi scoring 25 runs on 28 balls, which helped the home side score 223 runs before they were all out in 48.5 overs.

For West Indies, Chinelle and Karishma Ramharack picked three wickets each, Afy Fletcher got two while skipper Hayley Matthews bagged one.
