Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held a meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker to discuss the evolving regional situation and prospects for peace, according to the Foreign Office Pakistan.
A Foreign Office spokesperson said the two sides held detailed discussions on regional security dynamics, with Dar emphasising that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to resolving ongoing tensions.
During the meeting, the deputy prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for negotiations aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. He underscored the importance of direct engagement between the United States and Iran, urging both sides to pursue diplomatic channels.
Dar also appealed for the extension of the current ceasefire, stressing that continued restraint would create space for meaningful dialogue and help de-escalate tensions.
The spokesperson said the US diplomat acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and appreciated its efforts in facilitating dialogue between key stakeholders.
The meeting comes amid heightened international focus on diplomatic initiatives aimed at easing tensions in the region, with Pakistan actively advocating for negotiated solutions.
