Keeping in view the privacy of female students, installation of pink buttons has been started in colleges, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According authorities, the Safe City Authority has started installing pink buttons in 450 colleges initially in Lahore.
Devices will be installed in 39 colleges in Lahore, 35 in Rawalpindi, 31 in Faisalabad, 24 in Gujranwala, 22 in Sialkot, 19 in Sargodha, and 15 in Multan.
Devices will be installed in Gujarat 15, Chakwal and Mandi Bahauddin 14 each, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan 13 each, Sheikhupura, Jhang and Muzaffargarh 13 each.
Devices will be installed in Kasur and Layyah 11 each, Bhakkar and Mianwali 10 each, DG Khan, Khushab, Bahawalnagar, Vehari and Okara nine each.
Devices will be installed in Khanewal, Jhelum and Narowal eight each, Toba Tek Singh and Sahiwal seven each, Nankana Sahib, Attock and Rajanpur six each will be installed.
After the successful installation in colleges, it will also be installed in high schools.
Pink buttons have also been installed in 202 public places in 13 districts.
The maximum number of 122 has been installed in Lahore, 10 each in Sheikhupura and Sialkot.
Pink buttons have been installed and activated at six each places in Okara, Sahiwal, Jhang, Gujrat, Attock, Murree, Muzaffargarh, DG Khan, Mianwali and Jhelum.
Despite the unavailability of mobile phones, the pink button can be used to contact the police emergency helpline.
