Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday welcomed the acceptance of bail petitions, filed by the former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan in eight May 9 cases, by the Supreme Court (SC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The party, in its declaration, said that the SC’s decision was proof of the fact that the government failed to justify the arrest of Imran in the May 9 cases. “The apex court’s judgment is a big legal and moral victory for Imran and his party because it proves that all cases filed against him are bogus and are part of a political witch-hunt,” read the declaration, adding, however, it was a bitter reality that over 200 bogus cases were filed against the former prime minister and he had been kept in a prison for the last two years; away from the sight of his nation.
The question now was, the declaration said, who would compensate for the injustice done to Imran. “Who will be held accountable for imprisoning him without any justification and for using state machinery against him. “Those responsible for this must be taken to task.”
The PTI termed today’s decision the victory of law and justice and said it was optimistic that Imran would be granted bail in other cases as well and soon he would be amongst his people.
The time was near when the former prime minister, along with his nation, would lead the country to progress and prosperity in light of the vision of Father of the Nation Quad-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the declaration concluded.
