Pakistani singer, songwriter Abdul Hannan’s apparent clash with a bakery brand over an Instagram Live session has turned out to be a planned prank.
During the live session, bakery brand representatives appeared to mock Hannan’s music and career with one of them saying that he would have quit if he were making such songs.
Another host quoted that Hannan should release his songs on mute.
The hosts also addressed Hannan’s team during the live session asking the social media admin to leave the job and find another one.
Hannan’s team appeared to respond seriously, posting a pinned comment saying, “Please stop this live immediately.”
His official account later criticised the brand for what it described as unprofessional behaviour and using cheap insults for engagement.
However, the controversy took another turn when the bakery brand shared a meme featuring rapper Drake with the caption, “Bro thinks he’s on the team.”
In the replies, Team Abdul Hannan later clarified the situation, writing, “its not that serious guys prank tha chill maaro,” revealing that the entire drama had been staged as a prank.
Abdul Hannan is a popular Pakistani singer-songwriter and former software engineer who studied computer science at GIKI.
He rose to fame through viral songs including “Iraaday,” “Bikhra” and “Siyah,” gaining international attention when “Iraaday” appeared on the U.S. Secretary of State’s 2022 music playlist.
He later made his Coke Studio debut in Season 15 with Kaavish on the song “O Yaara.”
