The Economic Consul of China, Yang Gangyuan, met with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Pakistan, Gohar Ejaz, on Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance trade cooperation between the two countries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Economic Consul of China congratulated Gohar Ejaz on his successful visit to China last month, where he held meetings with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and other officials.
Gohar Ejaz said the purpose of his visit to China was to find a new market for Pakistani exporters, who have been facing challenges due to the global pandemic and other factors.
He said that he was confident that the exports with China would reach 25 billion dollars in the next five years, as both sides agreed to facilitate trade and investment. He said that his vision was not aid but economic development through trade.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry also said that he discussed the establishment of Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in Pakistan with the Chinese side, which would help attract Chinese industries to relocate to Pakistan and create employment opportunities for the local population.
He said that China could also increase its exports to Central Asian countries through Pakistan, which has a strategic location and connectivity.
The Economic Consul of China invited Gohar Ijaz to visit Guangzhou and Shandong Province, where he could meet with potential Chinese investors and businessmen. He said that China was ready to support Pakistan in its economic recovery and development and that the bilateral trade relations between the two countries were based on mutual trust and respect.
