After the continuous efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the crime rate has decreased for the first time in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to report, when Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi assumed office, there were other challenges including the daily spur in crime.
However, Mohsin Naqvi issued instructions to the police authorities to work under a solid strategy instead of reducing crime through artificial methods.
According to the police officials, the crime situation could be controlled by efficient patrolling and strong actions against the recorded suspects.
In this regard DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi said that the arrests of the accused were made after ensuring the registration of 100 percent cases.
Actions were taken to arrest the accused who had previous records, due to which there was a substantial reduction in crimes, DIG said.
According to the police records, there has been a 32 percent reduction in murder, attempted murder and other serious incidents while the incidents of motorcycle and car theft have decreased by 20-25 percent.
Moreover, a reduction of 20 to 25 percent has also been recorded in the calls to the police helpline 15.
According to police officials, the investigation wing is also working to get the arrested accused punished by the courts.
