Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) hosted a dinner in honour of its alumni residing in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom at the closing ceremony of its annual international scientific conference, highlighting the institution’s growing global academic engagement, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
The event was presided over by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, while former Punjab health minister Professor Dr Javed Akram and Chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan attended as chief guests.
Senior leadership from major medical institutions across Punjab, along with heads, principals and professors from public, private and armed forces-affiliated medical colleges, were also present.
A large number of distinguished medical professionals from abroad, including alumni of Fatima Jinnah Medical College currently practicing in North America and the United Kingdom, participated in the event.
Faculty members and senior administrators served on the organising committee to ensure the successful conduct of the conference and related activities.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Gondal welcomed the guests and lauded the role of alumni associations, describing them as ambassadors of Pakistan abroad.
He emphasised the importance of international collaboration in advancing medical education and healthcare standards.
Professor Dr Javed Akram congratulated the university leadership on organising a successful international conference on health reforms, noting that strong institutions are vital for national progress.
Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan termed the conference exemplary and expressed optimism about the university’s future trajectory.
Other speakers, including Professor Aamir Zaman Khan and Professor Mahmood Ayaz, praised the vice chancellor’s leadership and the collective efforts of the university and alumni associations in hosting the high-profile academic event.
The ceremony concluded with a formal dinner and the presentation of honorary shields to distinguished guests in recognition of their contributions.
