Dense fog over Karachi forced the diversion of six international flights to alternative airports, the Pakistan Airports Authority said, as poor visibility disrupted air traffic operations at the country’s busiest airport.
In a statement, the PAA said the diversions were carried out as a standard safety precaution due to reduced visibility conditions.
Officials stressed that such measures are routine and aimed at ensuring passenger and crew safety.
According to the authority, flights operated by Pegasus Airlines, Etihad Airways, Flyadeal and Gulf Air were diverted to Muscat instead of landing in Karachi.
In addition, a Fly Jinnah flight arriving from Jeddah was redirected to Islamabad.
A Pakistan International Airlines flight travelling from Madinah was also diverted to Muscat because of the foggy conditions, the PAA said.
Airport officials said flight operations would resume normally once weather conditions improve, adding that passengers are advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for updated schedules.
