Peshawar Zalmi beat Lahore Qalandars

Peshawar Zalmi beat Lahore Qalandars in the last match before the playoffs of the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and decided to bat, posting a 159-run target to Lahore Qalandars. Zalm’s batting line-up could not deliver against the in-form Lahore Qalandars. Spinner Fawad Ahmed took two important wickets of Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik.

The right-arm spinner gave away only 26 runs in four overs.  Shoaib Malik was the top scorer for Peshawar Zalmi with 32 runs in 28 balls. Peshawar Zalmi's batting line-up could not deliver against the in-form Lahore Qalandars.

Opener's Mohammad Harris and Hazratullah Zazai, who were expected to give the Zalmi a flying start, failed against the world-class bowling Lahore Qalandars. Lahore Qalandars in their previous match took the better of Islamabad United by 66 runs.

 The squad of Lahore Qalandars consists of Fakhar Zaman, Philip Salt, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hafeez, Harry Brook, Sohail Akhtar, David Wiese, Shaheen Afridi (c), Fawad Ahmed and Haris Rauf, Zaman Khan.

The Peshawar Zalmi team comprises  Hazratullah Zazai, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Haris, Shoaib Malik, Hussain Talat, Haider Ali, Wahab Riaz (c), Amad Butt, Khalid Usman, Mohammad Umar, Arshad Iqbal.

Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs, but the match will decide who will face table-top Multan Sultan and which team will face an Islamabad United beaten by an injury.

Qalandars are second in the points table with 12 points from nine games, while Zalmis are third with 10 points from nine games.
