The exhumation process of Mustafa Aamir’s grave has been completed, and forensic experts have collected 11 DNA samples, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to the report, these samples have been sent to the SFDL Lab at Karachi University for examination. Meanwhile, Mustafa’s burnt corpse has been shifted to the Edhi mortuary until the DNA report is received.
During the exhumation, security was tightened by the police, with Investigating Officer Muhammad Ali overseeing security logistics. Police Surgeon Dr Samiya and CPLC Identification Parade Head Aamir Hussain were also present at the scene.
Speaking to the media, Police Surgeon Dr Samiya stated, “I am the chairperson of the investigation team, and forensic expert Dr Luban is also part of it. We have collected 11 DNA samples and sent them to SFDL for testing to confirm the identity of the body.”
She further explained that the identification process involves multiple steps, but they prioritized DNA evidence. “We expect the results within three to seven days,” she added.
CPLC Identification Parade Head Aamir Hussain confirmed that the burnt corpse still had an intact skull. He stated, “On the magistrate’s orders, the body has been moved to the Edhi morgue until the DNA results are obtained.”
Acknowledging the challenges of collecting DNA from a burnt body, Amir Hussain assured that experienced forensic experts handled the sampling process efficiently. He added, “The samples will be matched with Mustafa’s mother’s blood sample for confirmation.”
He further revealed, “As per the magistrate’s orders, the body will remain in the mortuary until the DNA results arrive, which could take three days.”
Mustafa Aamir’s father was also present at the scene and, while speaking to 24NewsHD TV Channel, expressed his hope for justice. “The case is still ongoing in a Karachi court, and we seek justice from the judiciary,” he said.
The case took a horrifying turn when Karachi police discovered a burnt car with a charred body in Hub, Balochistan, on February 14. Investigators confirmed it belonged to Mustafa Amir, who was abducted on January 6.
According to DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider, the prime suspect, Armaghan, lured Mustafa to his house, where he was brutally beaten for three hours with an iron rod. Later, he was transported to a deserted location, doused in petrol, and set on fire while still alive.
Forensic reports confirmed that bloodstained carpets found in Armaghan’s house matched Mustafa’s DNA. Police also recovered 64 laptops, Rs 5 million in cash, and arrested two of Armaghan’s employees.
Further revelations suggest the murder stemmed from a dispute over a girl named Marsha, who fled the country on January 12. Authorities are now seeking her testimony through Interpol.
On February 18, the Sindh High Court overturned previous rulings, ordering Armaghan’s appearance before an anti-terrorism court (ATC).
In a dramatic turn of events, Armaghan fainted inside the courtroom while the judge granted a four-day physical remand. He was carried out in a semi-conscious state by police officers.
Armaghan denies all allegations, claiming he is being falsely implicated and that he never committed murder. He also rejected accusations of shooting at the police, insisting he only fired at robbers attempting a home invasion.
