Following the Deputy Commissioner's directives, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Health issued a notification to all government and private hospitals of Faisalabad, directing them to impose an immediate ban on smoking, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The notification further stated that smoking is prohibited in the office, sub-offices, and on other locations.
The notification stated that signboards should be displayed regarding ban on smoking. The notification suggested that a proper training should be conducted in this regard.
A comprehensive and detailed report should be submitted on monthly basis in the relevant department, the notification concluded as saying.
Earlier in 2025, the Punjab government has ordered strict enforcement of the Prohibition of Smoking Ordinance 2002 across the province, including in Rawalpindi, with fines of up to Rs100,000 for violations in public spaces.
According to provincial directives, smoking will be prohibited in educational institutions, government offices, hospitals, shopping malls, and public transport. Violators could face fines ranging from Rs1,000 to Rs100,000 depending on the severity of the offence.
