The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) secretary has prepared the profiles of the candidates for caretaker chief minister of Punjab, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.
The ECP secretary will present the profiles in the tomorrow's meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar in the chair.
The electoral body will give its final approval for the appointment of caretaker chief minister Punjab’ slot.
The government proposed the names of Sardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera and Naveed Akram Cheema while the opposition nominated Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Ahad Khan Cheema.
The ECP is all set to pick the name for the Punjab caretaker chief minister after a parliamentary committee constituted by the Punjab Assembly speaker failed to build a consensus on a candidate for the slot yesterday.
The speaker formed the body after the interim chief minister and the opposition leader could not decide the matter. Punjab is heading to election as provincial assembly stood dissolved last week.
CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja summoned the ECP meeting at 7pm at commission’s office on Sunday to give final approval to the name of caretaker chief minister of Punjab. The ECP has got time to announce the caretaker chief minister till 10:30pm tomorrow.
