Amber Heard is officially back; not on the big screen, but under the stage lights.

Just two months after quietly welcoming her twins, Agnes and Ocean, the 39-year-old actress has made a rare public appearance at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts, marking her return to acting with Spirit of the People, a new play by Jeremy O. Harris.

Heard plays the role of Genevieve in the production, her first acting project since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in 2023 and her first stage appearance in years.

The comeback also signals a slow reentry into the spotlight following the highly publicised defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, which concluded with a settlement in late 2022.

Appearing radiant and re-energised, Heard shared behind-the-scenes glimpses from rehearsals over the past month, including selfies with playwright Harris and a snap of her flipping through a script on stage. In a caption, she wrote: “In my theatre era x.”

Fans flooded her social media with messages of support: “So much support for you and it is well-deserved,” one wrote. Another said, “Amber, you look so refreshed and happy. I am proud to support you.”

Backstage, Heard was seen beaming with joy as she received bouquets of flowers from her fans. “I just want to thank my Open Letter fans, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world,” she said, holding one of the floral arrangements.

Now based in Spain, the mother-of-three continues to keep her personal life private. She has not revealed the father of her children but her return to the stage is seen by many as a bold, artistic comeback on her own terms.
