Celebrities have condemned the brutality in the name of honour in Balochistan after a horrifying video emerged on social media.
The graphic footage, which quickly went viral, shows armed men shooting an unarmed couple in broad daylight.
According to a BBC report, the assailants were speaking in the Brahui language with an accent commonly heard in Quetta and Mastung.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the country, drawing condemnation from civil society, religious scholars, political leaders, and showbiz figures.
Actor Talha Chahour called the act “a stain on humanity” and a grim reflection of societal norms that continue to restrict women’s freedom and agency.
“The barbaric public execution of a couple for daring to love is a stain on humanity. How can we justify filming, photographing, and blood? The woman's calm acceptance is a haunting indictment of a society that suffocates freedom and choice.”
He called for standing firm against brutality, saying: “We must confront the monsters who perpetuate this violence and demand to shatter patriarchal structures. Will we condone the brutalisation of women in the name of honour, or will we rise up and demand equality?”
He voiced the silence of the victim louder, saying: “The most haunting part is that the girl just walked calmly toward her death. No begging. Just quiet acceptance. Her silence was louder than protest …”
Mishi Khan expressed deep sorrow and frustration, slamming the persistent lack of accountability and the public’s misplaced priorities.
“I don’t have words to explain how I feel,” she captioned the clip, condemning the heinous crime.
They stressed the need for stronger enforcement of laws and meaningful societal reform to protect the basic rights and lives of women across the country.
