Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has filed a contempt of court petition in the Special Central Court, accusing Adiala Jail authorities of defying court orders related to his WhatsApp communication with his sons and a medical examination.
The petition, filed by lawyers Usman Riaz Gul, Zaheer Abbas, Shahina Shahab, and others, alleges that the jail superintendent deliberately ignored judicial directives, making arbitrary decisions in violation of the law.
According to the petition, despite clear court orders, Imran Khan was denied permission to make WhatsApp calls to his sons and was not provided a medical examination, which the court had previously approved.
The legal team argues that these actions constitute a violation of Sections 188 and 177 of the Pakistan Penal Code, referring to willful disobedience of public servant orders and providing false information. The petition also accuses the Adiala Jail superintendent of challenging the authority of the judiciary.
“There was no delay in implementation of the court orders, there was an outright refusal,” the petition reads.
The case was heard by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand, who issued notices to the relevant parties and adjourned the hearing until July 24.
