Ruling coalition achieves two-thirds majority in Senate

The ruling coalition has achieved two-thirds majority in the Senate of Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has become the largest party in the Senate with 26 seats. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of the jailed former prime minister Imran Khan has become the second largest parliamentary party in the Senate.

The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has 20 seats in the Senate, independent six and Balochistan Awamy Party (BAP) four. MQM and ANP have three senators each.

The PML-N has become the second largest parliamentary party in the Senate while the number of JI senators has increased to seven.
