Judicial Commission of Pakistan nominates 10 additional judges of LHC

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), which met with Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi in the chair on Tuesday, has approved 10 names, out of a total of 24, for filling the vacancies of judges in the Lahore High Court (LHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Advocate General Punjab Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz, Federal Prosecutor General Ghulam Sarwar Nihung, Deputy Attorney General Asad Ali Bajwa, Prosecutor General, Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah, Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal Duggal, Barrister Muhammad Usman Ghani Rashid Cheema, Muhammad Ajmal Khan Zahid, Advocate Sherry Imran, Advocate Khalid Ibne Aziz and Ameer Ajam were nominated for the vacant seats.

The Ministry of Law and Justice will issue the notification for the appointment of judges following the nod of President Asif Ali Zardari.

Following the appointment of 10 more judges, the number of judges in the LHC will reach 50, while the number of vacancies will drop to 10.
