The authorities in Punjab have decided to set up a government-based cloud infrastructure with a cost of Rs7.4 billion, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In this regard, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has started preparing PC-1 for cloud infrastructure.
The aim is to set up modern government cloud infrastructure which will promote artificial intelligence.
In this regard, the government will seek technical assistance from global company for GPU-based cloud project.
Modern cloud infrastructure will be set up for government data security and AI projects.
The Punjab government will have its own cloud system for e-governance, artificial intelligence and big data projects.
The Punjab Chief Minister has already given in-principle approval to the project.
According to PITB authorities, this project will reduce dependence on external cloud services.
AI-equipped cloud is a major need of the province to promote digital governance.
