Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Tuesday that a taskforce, comprising experts, was going to be formed which would estimate the losses caused to Pakistan by the violation of Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) by India, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, he said that three provinces faced the shortage of water. “It is only Punjab where the water is in surplus,” he added.
The chief minister further said that while there was enough wheat in Punjab, same was not the case in Sindh where the shortage developed due to the fixation of support price. “Another factor responsible for the shortage of wheat is hoarding,” CM Murad said.
He went on to say that he had asked the federal government not to import wheat when it was in the country in sufficient quantities.
“The Sindh government will decide on announcing subsidy on petroleum products after consultations with the Center.”
