The University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Tuesday awarded degrees to 1,449 postgraduate graduates at the varsity's fourth postgraduate convocation held in Lahore, 24NewsHD TV reported.
Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafique, was the chief guest.
The ceremony commenced with the conferral of postgraduate degrees, after which the graduates took the professional oath administered by Prof Nadia Naseem.
The proceedings continued with the award of 28 gold medals to the best graduates from various disciplines in recognition of their outstanding academic performance.
The gold medal recipients included Amna Ghaffar (MPhil Chemical Pathology), Summia Khan (MPhil Community Medicine), Muqaddas Khursheed (MPhil Forensic Science), Asif Haleem Khan (MPhil MLS Hematotechnology), Mahnoor Chaudhry (MPhil Microbiology), Azan Hassan (MPhil Pharmacology), Seher Naeem (MPhil Physiology), Iqra Batool (MPhil Science of Dental Materials), Attia Lateef (MPhil Immunology), Aqib Javaid (MPhil MLS Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics), Ayesha Iqbal (MD Cardiology), Sudip Gopal Parajuli (MD Internal Medicine), Muhammad Ali (MD Nephrology), Jamal Ashraf (MD Paediatrics), Fatima Khalid (MS Anaesthesia), Ashiqullah Arman (MS Cardiac Surgery), Aroosa Rubab (MS General Surgery), Shujat (MS Neurosurgery), Akash Samuel (MS Nursing), Mahwish Naz (MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology), Hafiza Sadia Imtiaz (MS Ophthalmology), Ahmed Umair Asad Khan (MS Orthopaedics), Muhammad Kashif (MS Otorhinolaryngology), Muhammad Adeel Ashiq (MS Paediatric Surgery), Raheel Ahmed Khan (MS Plastic Surgery), Abdul Razaq (MS Urology), Neha Usman (MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) and Zoha Rahim (MD Gastroenterology).
Former provincial health minister and ex-Vice Chancellor UHS, Prof. Dr. Javed Akram, renowned paediatrician Prof. Dr. Sajid Maqbool, and eminent gynaecologist Prof. Dr. Rashid Latif Khan attended the event as Guests of Honour. The ceremony was also attended by vice chancellors, principals, and senior faculty members from various medical, dental, and nursing institutions.
The degrees awarded included 572 Master of Surgery (MS), 311 MPhil, 182 Postgraduate Medical Diplomas, 176 Doctor of Medicine (MD), 62 MS Nursing, 53 Master of Public Health (MPH), 40 Master in Health Professions Education (MHPE), 37 PhD and 16 Master of Dental Surgery (MDS).
