Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) has achieved international recognition by being ranked among the top 200 universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, with a particular distinction in the category of Gender Equality.
This prestigious ranking highlights FJMU's commitment to inclusive education, women empowerment, and medical excellence, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.
FJMU emerged as Pakistan’s top-performing institution in the Gender Equality category, marking a milestone for the university and solidifying its status as a leading center for women’s medical education and healthcare in the region.
The achievement underscores the university’s ongoing efforts to create an equitable academic environment and provide specialized healthcare training for women.
This recognition is credited to the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, the proactive Quality Enhancement Cell led by Professor Bilquis Shabbir, and the collaborative efforts of faculty members, students, and administrative staff. Their collective dedication has elevated the institution’s standing on the global academic map.
During the visit of the Presidents of the Royal Colleges UK, Professor Sarah Clarke and Professor Andrew Elder, declared Fatima Jinnah Medical University as one of the Best Medical institutions of Pakistan.
FJMU vice chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal announced that the university is Pakistan's only Public Sector Medical Institution to achieve accreditation and start induction in all four Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialties: Fetal Maternal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, Urogynaecology, and Gynaecological Oncology.
Additionally, the university has also accredited several Level 4 programs, including Critical Care Medicine, Neonatal Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, Community and Preventive Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, and Rheumatology, following successful approvals.
He announced that the Syndicate of Fatima Jinnah Medical University has approved the Ph.D. programs in Anatomy and Community Medicine, including Masters and Ph.D. in Medical Education and expressed that these programs will be started this year.
