Two labourer families in Jacobabad have been left homeless after a fire broke out and destroyed their houses, reducing years of hard work and household possessions to ashes, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

The incident occurred in the Dudo Pur area of Jacobabad, where a blaze suddenly erupted and quickly spread to two nearby homes.

According to local residents, the fire was triggered by a spark from a cooking stove, which rapidly ignited the structures.

Despite efforts to control the flames, both houses were engulfed by the fire.

Furniture, household items and other belongings were completely destroyed, leaving the affected families with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.

The victims said that although the fire brigade was informed about the incident, emergency assistance did not arrive in time to prevent the destruction.

By the time help could be arranged, the fire had already consumed both homes.

Members of the affected families said they are now living under the open sky without shelter and are facing severe difficulties.

They have appealed to the authorities and charitable organisations for immediate assistance and support to help them rebuild their lives.

The incident comes weeks after a separate arson attack in Jacobabad, reported on 16 May, when armed men allegedly set fire to dozens of houses following a marriage by choice between a young couple.

That incident displaced several families and led to the registration of a terrorism case against multiple suspects.
